Things to do in Riyadh →Arriving in Riyadh
For most international visitors, KKIA is the starting point.
KKIA officially lists Uber and Careem, with designated pickup areas at the terminals.
Use the airport's designated taxi area and the regulated fare process rather than accepting informal transport offers.
The airport is connected to the Riyadh Metro network. It can be practical if your hotel is near a station and you are travelling light.
Where to stay in Riyadh
Riyadh is spread out, so location can matter more than choosing only by hotel category.
Useful for shorter airport transfers and visitors whose schedule is concentrated in north Riyadh.
Good for restaurants, business meetings and central-city plans, with longer road travel to far-north destinations.
A practical base for business visitors wanting north-city access with Metro connectivity nearby.
Useful if Diriyah is a major part of your trip, but check road time to your other daily destinations.
Getting around
Riyadh trips often work best with a mix of Metro and road transport.
Simple for point-to-point movement, especially with luggage or at night.
Useful when both your origin and destination are close to stations.
Can reduce coordination when several people need to move together.
Some destinations outside the central network still require a car for the final leg.
Things to do in Riyadh
Do not turn a short business trip into an impossible sightseeing schedule.
Skyline, coffee or dinner near your hotel.
Bujairi and At-Turaif are a natural heritage-and-dining combination.
Useful for visitors wanting more cultural context.
Leave longer excursions for a separate day rather than squeezing them between meetings.
Diriyah evening
KOG26 visitors can also request a private 3–8 person evening with RECC Malham pickup, Diriyah dinner coordination and hotel drop-off.
RECC Malham → Diriyah dinner → Bujairi / At-Turaif → Riyadh hotel.
International visitor basics
Handle these before you depend on them after landing.
Riyadh travel FAQ
Entry requirements depend on your nationality and circumstances. Check the current official Saudi visa route before booking non-refundable travel. Our Saudi eVisa guide links to the official application system.
For many first-time visitors with luggage, app-based ride-hailing or an official airport taxi is the simplest. Riyadh Metro is another option when your hotel is convenient to the network.
No. The Metro is useful across many parts of Riyadh, but some destinations still require road transport for the final leg.
There is no single area for every trip. Choose based on your daily destinations: airport/north Riyadh, central Olaya, KAFD/north, or closer to Diriyah depending on your itinerary.
This is the broader Riyadh guide. If you are attending Kingdom of Gaming 2026, use the KOG26 trip planner for event-specific logistics.
